2 days of thrills, spills and rollercoaster rides in Heide park

In Germany we had the most amazing and the most stressful holidays at the same time. Germany met us with rain. And it rained so strong that even our GPS had stopped to communicate with as and our lodging we found just by accident. We had rain every evening, at least days were sunny and warm :)

The first two days we spend in Heide Park. There almost aren't enough superlatives to describe Heide Park Resort, which opened in 1978. Set within a beautiful landscaped park near Soltau in Lüneburg Heath, this is one of Germany's biggest theme parks. It features a variety of thrill rides and family attractions, spread across four themed areas, such as the Land of the Forgotten People, Transylvania and Totenkopf Pirate Bay. Heide park offers action and adventure for all :)

Adomas and Marijus tried Scream (actually they tried this attraction two times. For Adomas it was the best attraction :) Scream with a speed on over 100 km/h it is the fastest gyro-tower in the world. The highest car position of the Scream is 71 metres (233 ft), the distance covered is 66 metres (217 ft), from which 38 metres (125 ft) are to the head and 28 metres (92 ft) for brake distance.

I and Urte tried the smaller tower beside Scream - Screamie. And tried it loads of time - as I say - It's scary, but not a lot :)

Drachengrotte

La Ola - wave swinger we tried twice :)

Adomas was too young to try the Krake (German for „octopus“), so my husband did it alone. The Krake, Germany's first dive coaster, begins with a terrifying vertical drop into the jaws of an octopus.

Urte was too small to try Breakdance (and it's obvious in the photo how much she was upset).

Mountain rafting - a classic river rapids ride, which sees riders boarding circular, 6-person rafts that drift around a watery circuit. As with most rides of its type, the thrill comes from not knowing exactly how wet you'll get - the rotation of the raft introduces a random element.

One of our favorite ride for my family was bobsleigh (German - Bobbahn) - a Bobsled coaster or modern-day, steel version of the classic Flying Turns. It's also the largest and longest of its kind in the world. Seven-car trains travel in a U-shaped trough, swaying back-and-forth throughout the layout. Since the trough is not a precise track allowing the vehicle to make its own path, each ride experience on Bobbahn will be unique. Each seven-car train is decorated with the colors and flags of various countries – Canada, Denmark, Switzerland, Sweden, and United States of America.

Ghostbusters 5D - one of the new attractions. Equipped with a laser gun and 3D glasses adventurous ride starts to support the world famous Ghostbusters. Strapped and watched! All senses and full body use are in demand. The spirits appear suddenly and sometimes you hear or feel them only.

Our last roller coaster to try was Big Loop. Big Loop is a classic looping corkscrew roller coaster. Riders go upside down four times, first in back-to-back vertical loops, followed immediately by a double corkscrew (to be honest one time for me was enough, but my family tried this roller coaster twice despite of rain).

Back to childhood :)
