Rainy evenings in Soltou

In Soltou we spend all our rainy evenings...But this mid-sized town is really very cozy even if it's really bad weather outside. To me, travelling is not just going somewhere, anywhere, but it's more about making beautiful memories with people I love. And travelling will help us to make some beautiful memories undoubtedly.

Travelling, for me, is same as reading books. Unfortunately, this Telephone booth - Library was closed. I wish I could spend more time inside looking for interesting books...

Exploring Bremen

Bremen is one of Germany's 38 UNESCO World Heritage sites and really worth to visit. We spend half a day in Bremen and it was not enough for us. We will come back! I really enjoyed impressive architecture and especially old town.
In my childhood I've seen the cartoon The Bremen Town Musicians probably more then 100 times, so to see the famous musicians in reality was my priority. The Bremen Town Musicians, the bronze sculpture created in 1951 by the artist Gerhard Marcks. The Bremen Town Musicians - a group of four animals, as the Brothers Grimm would tell us, who scared off a thief by standing on each others’ backs to appear larger. Actually we didn't know that need to hold onto both of the donkey's legs to make a wish, but we made our wishes in our way.

Music beside the Town Hall

St. Peter's Cathedral (St. Petri Dom) is very old early Gothic cathedral, located in the central square of Marktplatz. Set between the town hall and the State Parliament, the cathedral completes the ensemble of historical buildings on Bremen's market square. Its' two towers, one of which is open to visitors, are visible from afar and dominate the city skyline. The front of it reminded me a bit of Notre Dame in Paris. The ceilings here are beautiful, also the pipe organs.

A beautiful Rosetta Window dated 13th century located above the entrance.

Kids having fun in the Cathedral :)

It reminded me drinking coffee and eating cupcakes in Liverpool's Cathedral. It's impressive how much fun we can have in religious places nowadays!
The Schnoor is a neighbourhood in the medieval centre of the city of Bremen, and the only part of it that has preserved a medieval character. The Schnoor was one of the poorer corners in the past. While the rich merchants settled in the Obernstraße (Upper Street), which was meant as well geographically as socially, or in the Langenstraße (Long street), the Schnoor developed in the 10th century as a district of fishermen.

Pretty little half-timbered houses dating back to the 15th and 16th centuries, with narrow lanes between the rows of buildings. The name of the quarter may allude to the fact that the houses are lined up like pearls on a string, Schnoor being Low German for Schnur (string). Another interpretation of the name is that this part of the old fishermen's quarter, right by the river Weser, was where the rope makers used to live. Visitors can browse for arts and crafts and handmade gold, rest their legs in one of the many cafés and restaurants or buy a souvenir to take home.

Gothic hall church, 14th century, former Franciscan church, now Bremen's main Catholic church in the old town's Schnoor quarter. Unfortunately, we had no enough time to look around.

Bremen's "statue of liberty" - a symbol of trading rights and freedom since 1404. Germany's largest Roland statue.
